LOCALS FLOCK TO BETTER BRAY CHALLENGE
Retailers, Manufacturers, Voluntary Organisations, Sports Clubs and Cultural Centres are among those who have signed up to Bray Lions Club ‘Better Bray Challenge’ in the week following its launch.
‘We are delighted with the response which has been very positive, with more than 50 businesses and organisations already involved’, says J.J. O’Dwyer, chairman of Bray Lions Club 25th Anniversary Committee.
Bray Town Council is an enthusiastic supporter of the project and is currently establishing goals which it plans to achieve by May 2013. So too is Bray Chamber which is encouraging all of its members to participate.
Tourism interests see the Better Bray Challenge as a means of creating a positive image of the town and Bray Tourism Forum is a strong supporter together with the Martello, The Beach House, Ocean Restaurant, Katie Gallagher's, Sea Life and Finnegan’s Coaches.
A large number of Bray Retailers have taken on the Challenge including Superquinn, O’Brien Wines, Tansey and Co., Everest Cycles, Stacks Bar, Shane Rowan, Oxfam, Coffee‘n’Treats, Studio54, Finnbees, Planet Sound, Holland's Bar and Off Licence, Anna Schu and Michael Doherty's.
The Mermaid Arts Centre has taken on the Challenge and so has Kilruddery House.
Voluntary Bodies who have signed up to-date include Bray Lakers, Bray Emmets GAA Club, Bray Sailing Club, Bray Bowling Club, County Wicklow Lawn Tennis Club, Sa Bhaile Homeless Project and Bray Shop Local Committee.
The Better Bray Challenge has also received strong support from local media including Bray People, North Wicklow Times and East Coast FM while professionals such as Neville Murphy and Company, Solicitors and Mitchell Douglas Auctioneers are also on board. So too are manufacturers such as Megazyme and Takeda and service providers including Rainbarrels, Novara Construction and Fortune Print.
Says Frank Corr, ‘Better Bray Challange ‘ Project Leader : ‘The concept of creating a Better Bray through many organisations setting and achieving their goals, is gaining strength by the day and we expect many more businesses and organisations to take on the ‘Better Bray Challenge’ over the next few weeks.’
